Some substituted urea complexes of thorium(IV) and uranium(IV)N-thiocyanates

Abstract

The complexes M(NCS)4·xL [x= 4, M = Th or U, L =(MePhN)2CO; M = Th, L =(Me2N)(Et2N)2CO or (Et2N)2CO; M = U, L =(Me2N)2CO; x= 3, M = U, L =(Me2N)2CO, (Me2N)(Et2N)CO, (Et2N)2CO, or (MePhN)2CO] and U(NCS)4·2(MePhN)2CO·2MeCN have been prepared. Their i.r. and near i.r–visible spectra [uranium(IV) complexes only] are reported and their stoicheiometries are discussed briefly in terms of a cone-packing model.
