Some substituted urea complexes of thorium(IV) and uranium(IV)N-thiocyanates

Abstract

The complexes M(NCS)₄·xL [x= 4, M = Th or U, L =(MePhN)₂CO; M = Th, L =(Me₂N)(Et₂N)₂CO or (Et₂N)₂CO; M = U, L =(Me₂N)₂CO; x= 3, M = U, L =(Me₂N)₂CO, (Me₂N)(Et₂N)CO, (Et₂N)₂CO, or (MePhN)₂CO] and U(NCS)₄·2(MePhN)₂CO·2MeCN have been prepared. Their i.r. and near i.r–visible spectra [uranium(IV) complexes only] are reported and their stoicheiometries are discussed briefly in terms of a cone-packing model.
