Promoting effects of Fe addition in MeOH synthesis catalysed by SiO2-supported Pd

Abstract

The addition of Fe to SiO2-supported Pd gave a marked improvement in the activity for MeOH formation while keeping the high selectivity; various Fe/Pd atomic ratios (0.1 and 0.3), provided changes in the MeOH yields and the selectivity, respectively, as reflected in the drastic changes of surface morphology and CO chemisorption mode (i.r. spectroscopic studies).
