The synthesis and structure of the unusual polymeric compound {Na3[Ru2(µ-O2CO)4]·6H2O}n

Abstract

The reaction of Ru2(µ-O2CMe)4 with Na2CO3 in aqueous solution has led to the isolation of an orange polymeric air stable compound {Na2[Ru2(µ-O2CO)4]·6H2O}n whose structure has been determined by X-ray crystallographic analysis; this complex exhibits a new co-ordination mode for the carbonate ion.
