Cationic complexes of transition metals as a new type of phase-transfer catalyst

Abstract

Cationic complexes of the type [ML2Cl2]+Cl(M = Rh, Ir, Fe; L = 2,2′-bipyridyl or 1,10-phenanthroline) were found to act as phase-transfer catalysts that can be used as bifunctional catalysts in consecutive reactions of metal-complex and phase-transfer catalysis.
