Unusual carbon scrambling in the ethene homologation reaction. Evidence for different intermediates in the ethene homologation and metathesis reactions
Abstract
The 13C content in the propene formed by the homologation reaction of 13C2H4 on a reduced MoOx–SiO2–SnMe4 catalyst was different from that in the ethene initially, and [13C2]propene formed in this reaction was composed of randomized 1,2-, 1,3-, and 2,3-[13C2]propene; this suggests that the homologation reaction process is independent of the metathesis reaction.
