Treatment of a mixture of (dppe)ReH7[dppe = 1,2-bis(diphenylphosphino)ethane] and 2,3-dimethylbutadiene successively with ButOK and Me2SO4 affords the complexes the title compound, the X-ray crystal structure of which has been determined.
