Reaction between the methylmethylidyne–tungsten complex [W(CMe)(CO)2(CO)2(η-C5H5)] and borane: a method of introducing boron into unsaturated organometallic compounds

Abstract

Reactions between the alkylidyne–tungsten complexes [W(CR)(CO)₂(η-C₅H₅)](R Me or C₆ H₄Me-4) and BH₃·thf (thf tetrahydrofuran)and 9-borabicyclo[3.3.1]nonane have been studied, and the structures of the products [W₂{µ-MeCB(H)Et}(CO)₄(η-C₅H₅)₂] and [W{η³-CH(BC₈H₁₄)C₆H₄Me-4}(CO)₂(η-C₅H₅) established by X-ray diffraction.
