Spectrofluorimetric determination of aluminium(III) in Portland cement and aluminium bronze with 1-hydroxy-2-carboxyanthraquinone

Abstract

The fluorescent chelate of aluminium with 1-hydroxy-2-carboxyanthraquinone is used to provide a sensitive determination of aluminium. The detection limit is 2 ng ml–1 and the range of application is between 3 and 250 ng ml–1. The stoicheiometry of the complex is 2 : 1 (reagent to metal). The method has been applied satisfactorily to the determination of aluminium in Portland cement and aluminium bronze.
