Activation of water with anionic platinum carbonyl clusters

Abstract

The platinum cluster carbonyl anion [Pt12(CO)24]2– catalyses the reaction between water and p-benzoquinone to give p-dihydroxybenzene and oxygen; rate parameters have been determined for the reaction between [Pt12(CO)24]2– and water.
