A novel 1,3-migration of a silyl group from carbon to oxygen in a silanolate ion

Abstract

The silanols (Me3Si)3CSiMe2OH, (Me3Si)2C(SiMePh2)(SiMe2OH), and (PhMe2Si)3C(SiMe2OH) undergo rearrengement in MeONa-MeOH to give (Me3Si)2CH(SiMe2OSiMe2), (Me3Si)2CH(SiMe2OSiMePh2), and (PhMe2Si)2CH(SiMe2OSiMe2Ph), respectively.
