Application of the Percus–Yevick theory to the description of the high-temperature physical adsorption of gases on crystalline solids

Abstract

The local density of fluid particles in a periodic potential field is determined by solving the linear Percus–Yevick equation for the one-particle distribution function. The computed density profiles are then used to calculate excess thermodynamic functions. The results are compared with similar calculations performed for the Boltzmann-averaged gas–solid potential.
