The self-diffusion coefficient of sulphuric acid

Abstract

The self-diffusion coefficient, D, of sulphuric acid has been measured at 15.1 and 25 °C to a maximum pressure of 194 MPa using the n.m.r. steady-gradient spin–echo method. The pressure dependence of D is similar to that of methanol, (∂D/∂p)T being negative, and dissimilar to that of water, where (∂D/∂p)T passes from positive to negative values at low temperatures.
