Nine laboratories have participated in a collaborative study analysing 22 samples of spirits to determine the reliability of a modified method for the determination of the dry extract concentration. Statistical evaluation of the results revealed acceptable standard errors up to a concentration of about 20 g l–1 for use in the determination of spirit obscuration.
