Photoionization during the vacuum ultraviolet photolysis of nitrosocompounds

Abstract

Photoionization quantum yields have been measured by the standard method for 2-methyl-2-nitrosopropane and a range of halogenated-methyl nitrosocompounds at wavelengths of 147, 123 and 105/107 nm. The results show that photoionization at energies up to 1.5 eV above threshold is of low probability. The data are compared with recent photoelectron spectroscopy data on these compounds and discussed in the context of the overall vacuum u.v. photochemistry of these compounds.
