Organosilyl iron carbonyl complexes: synthesis and reactivity towards alkynes and nitriles

Abstract

The di-iron complex [Fe(CO)4SiPh2]2, readily obtained from Fe(CO)5 and Ph2SiH2 under photochemical conditions, reacts with the alkynes RC[triple bond, length as m-dash]CR to yield the new mono- and bi-metallic complexes (CO)4[graphic omitted]iPh2(R = Ph, Me, or Et) and (CO)3[graphic omitted](CO)3; the former complexes convert nitriles into aldehydes via disilylated enamines.
