Ethyl 6-substituted 2,4-dihydroxybenzoates (13)–(18) were synthesized by reaction of diketen with 4-substituted acetoacetates (1)–(6). The keto esters (2)–(7) were prepared from ethyl 4-bromoacetoacetate (1).
