Azo-coupling and arylation reactions of co-ordinated polyolefins with arenediazonium ions

Abstract

Reaction of arenediazonium ions with [Fe(CO)L2(η4-polyene)][L = CO or P(OMe)3, polyene = cyclo-octatetraene or cycloheptatriene], and subsequent deprotonation gives either azo-coupled or arylated compounds such as [Fe(CO){P(OMe)3}2(η4-C8H7N2C6H4F-p)] and [Fe(CO)3(η4-C8H7C6H4NO2-p)] respectively.
