Oxidative addition and reductive elimination reactions of hydridodiplatinum complexes: preparation, properties, and X-ray and molecular structure of bis{µ-[bis(diphenylphosphino)methane]-P,P′}-f-[bis(diphenylphosphino)-methane-P]-a-hydridodiplatinum(Pt-Pt) hexafluorophosphate, [Pt2H(Ph2PCH2PPh2)(µ-Ph2PCH2PPh2)2][PF6]
Abstract
The reaction of [Pt2H2(µ-H)(µ-dppm)2][PF6][dppm = bis(diphenylphosphino)methane] with dppm proceeds by reductive elimination of H2 to give [Pt2H-(dppm)(µ-dppm)2][PF6], which has been shown by single-crystal X-ray crystallography to contain both bridging and terminal dppm ligands and a Pt–Pt bond [2·770(2)Å] and which undergoes reversible oxidative addition of RSH (R = Me or PhCH2) at the platinum(I) centres.
