Dehydrative decarboxylation of clavulanic acid. A ready synthesis of 7-oxo-3-vinyl-4-oxa-1-azabicyclo[3.2.0]hept-2-ene

Abstract

Clavulanic acid (1) is converted by an efficient one-step process into the conjugated diene (3), which has been used in the preparation of novel analogues of (1), such as (4), (6), and (7).
