Electrochemical reduction of dimethyl 2,(ω–1)-dibromoalkanedioates (1) in tetrahydrofuran solution containing tetra-n-butylammonium perchlorate using a platinum cathode produces the corresponding dimethyl cycloalkane-1,2-dicarboxylates (2).
