Excitation energy transfer in clathrates

Abstract

The results of a study of gamma radiolysis of some clathrates of NiII(4-picoline)4(NCS)2 are presented. All the guest molecules are halogenated aromatics. A model is proposed to account for the final radiolysis products: exciton energy migrations and transfers are discussed, and a correlation presented between the radiation chemistry and other excitonic processes which have been studied for these types of clathrates, i.e., their infrared and visible spectra.
