Induced electron transfer in the reaction of hydroxyl radicals with pyridinepenta-amminecobalt(III) ion in aqueous solution
Abstract
The reaction of OH radicals with (NH3)5CoIIIpy3+(k= 6·5 × 108M–1 s–1) at pH 5·2 yields Co2+; the OH-adduct to the pyridine ligand, detected by pulse radiolysis, undergoes slow first-order decay (k= 6·0 s–1).
