Crystal and molecular structure of NN′-dithiodisuccinimide

Abstract

The crystal structure of the title compound has been determined from three-dimensional X-ray diffractometer data. Crystals are monoclinic with unit-cell dimensions, a= 9·913(2), b= 6·630(1), c= 18·390(3)Å, β= 117·33(1)°, space group A2, Z= 4, with two independent monomers in the asymmetric unit. The structure was solved by Patterson and heavy-atom methods. Full-matrix least-squares refinement, using 1108 independent reflections, has reduced R to 0·034.
