C. Membranes, heterogeneous and biological systems. Factors controlling the frequency and amplitude of the Teorell oscillator

Abstract

The properties of the Teorell oscillator are analysed by considering a membrane containing parallel cylindrical pores with a low surface charge density. Particular attention is given to alterations in the properties produced on varying the pore diameter and surface charge. Brief consideration is given to the relation between the behaviour of the oscillator and of biological mechano-electric transducers.
