Syntheses of flufenamic acid metabolites I and II and other N-aryl-anthranilic acids

Abstract

The syntheses of two metabolites of flufenamic acid, 5-hydroxy-N-(ααα-trifluoro-m-tolyl)anthranilic acid and N-(4-hydroxy-ααα-trifluoro-m-tolyl)anthranilic acid, are described. Syntheses of a number of other N-aryl-anthranilic acids, mono-, di-, tri-, and tetra-substituted in the aryl ring lacking a carboxy-group, and with substituents in both aryl rings, are reported.
