Transition metal complexes as ligands: preparation of mixed transition metal complexes of niobium with nickel, palladium, platinum, or molybdenum

Abstract

The dithio-derivatives (π-C5H5)2Nb(SR)2, R = Me or Ph and [(π-C5H5)2Nb(SMe)2]+A have been prepared. The bismethylthio-derivative forms the diamagnetic, trinuclear complexes {[(π-C5H5)2Nb(SMe)2]2M}2+A22–, where M = Ni, Pd, or Pt. The bonding in the trinuclear complexes is discussed. A paramagnetic compound (π-C5H5)2Nb(SMe)2Mo(CO)4 and a bridging-oxo-derivative [(π-C5H5)2NbCl]2O]+BF4 are also described.
