The oxidation of 5-arylsulphonamido-3,3-dimethyloxindoles and related compounds

Abstract

Oxidation of 5-p-toluenesulphonamido-3 3-dimethyloxindole with lead tetra-acetate gives 5-p-toluenesulphonimido-3,3-dimethyloxindole, a quinone di-imine, which undergoes addition of hydrogen chloride, hydrazoic and benzenesulphinic acids, and piperidine.
