Magnetic susceptibilities of some rhenium(III) and osmium(IV) halide complexes; preparation of some new d4 complexes

Abstract

A large range of complexes of rhenium(III), containing chloride or bromide, and tertiary phosphines or arsines as ligands, and also a few similar osmium(IV) complexes have been prepared. Many have magnetic moments which are essentially the same in the solid state and in 1,1,2,2-tetrachloroethane solution. In addition, several of the d4 systems exhibit the anticipated temperature-independent paramagnetism in the solid state.
