Cyclisations involving enol acetates: synthesis of (±)-campherenone, (±)-campherenol, and (±)-epicampherenone

Abstract

Preliminary investigations of a general synthetic route to a group of bicyclic, tricyclic, and tetracyclic sesquiterpenes have been made and the total synthesis of key intermediates (campherenone, epicampherenone, and the corresponding alcohols) is described.
