Molecular orbital studies of ion hydration. Part 2.—H3O+

Abstract

The hydration of the H3O+ ion has been studied by the CNDO/2 method. The non-additivity of the hydrogen bond energy has been demonstrated and a correlation between proton charge and hydrogen bond energy has been established.
