Organosilicon chemistry. Part VI. The photochemical reaction of bis(trimethylsilyl)mercury with hexafluorobenzene and with trimethyl-(pentafluorophenyl)silane

Abstract

Bis(trimethylsilyl)mercury readily gives trimethyl(pentafluorophenyl)silane and tetrafluoro-1,3- and -1,4-bis(trimethylsilyl)benzene when irradiated in the presence of hexafluorobenzene, probably via a free-radical mechanism.
