Spectroscopic studies on pyridine N-oxide complexes of iron(III)

Abstract

The complexes Fe(pyO)6(ClO4)3, Fe(pyO)6(NO3)3,2H2O, Fe(pyO)4(NO3)3,H2O, [Fe(pyO)4Cl2]+ClO4–,H2O, Fe(pyO)3X3(X = Cl or NCS) and Fe(pyO)2X3(X = Cl or Br) have been prepared. The stereochemistries of the complexes are discussed in relation to the results obtained by vibrational, electronic, and e.s.r. spectroscopy.
