Mössbauer quadrupole splittings in tetra-organotin compounds

Abstract

Mössbauer spectra for a wide range of tetraorganotin compounds of the general types Me3SnX, (Me3Sn)2X, and Me2SnX2(where X is an aryl group with other substituents) have been obtained. The observed quadrupole splittings show a marked dependence on the nature of ortho-substituents. The splittings are apparently induced by asymmetry in the σ-bonding.
