On the mechanism of cathodic cleavage of β-keto-sulphones

Abstract

γ-Diketones, obtained as by-products in the electrolytic cleavage of β-keto-sulphones at a mercury cathode, have been demonstrated to form via radical dimerization rather than nucleophilic displacement.
