Molecular and intramolecular relaxation in some substituted anilines

Abstract

The present communication reports the relaxation times of 2,4,6-tribromo-, 2,4-dibromo-, 2,4,6-trichloro, 2,4-dichloro, 2,4,6-trimethoxy and 2,4-dimethoxy anilines in dilute solutions of benzene at wavelength 3.13 cm (9585 Mc/sec) in the microwave region. The measurements have been made at 20°, 30° and 40°C, in order to calculate the free energies of activation for the process of dipole orientation and viscous flow. It is concluded that the dipole orientation is contributed by both molecular as well as intramolecular rotations.
