Flow-cell studies of thermal diffusion in liquids. Part 5.—Binary mixtures of CH3OH with CCl4, benzene and cyclohexane at 25°C

Abstract

Experimental measurements of thermal diffusion at 25°C are reported for the liquid systems CCl4+ CH3OH, benzene + CH3OH, and cyclohexane + CH3OH. The Soret coefficients for these mixtures are large and extremely composition-dependent. The results are discussed in terms of the marked non-ideality, or even immiscibility, shown by these systems.
