Hydrolysis and methanolysis of nitrile solutions of boron halides

Abstract

The hydrolysis and methanolysis of nitrile solutions of boron halides afford a quick and handy method for the preparation of amide hydrohalides and O-methyl imide hydrohalides. The mechanism of formation of these compounds and their decomposition under electron impact are discussed.
