Electron spin resonance of bis(NN-diethylthiocarbamato)nitrosyliron

Abstract

The e.s.r. parameters for Fe(NO)(S2CNEt2)2 have been measured at Q, X, and S-band frequencies and the g-tensor and A(14N) and A(57Fe) hyperfine tensors have been deduced. The results are best accommodated if the unpaired electron is in an a1′(dz2) orbital and the order of energy levels is a2 < b1 < b2 < a1′ < a1″. Small differences between the results at different frequencies are discussed in terms of deviations from linearity for the Fe–N–O unit.
