Complexes of organoaluminium compounds. Part III. Reactions of diethylamides with ammonia, amines, and methanol

Abstract

The compounds Et₂AlNR¹₂(R = H, alkyl) react with amines R²₂NH to give derivatives Et₂AlNR²₂ under mild conditions if R²₂N preceeds R¹₂N in the series: H₂N > HMeN > HBu^tN > Me₂N. The methylamido-compound, Et₂AlNHMe was isolated as a stable trimer and the t-butylamido-compound Et₂AlNHBu^t as a dimer. Mass spectra are discussed. The derivatives (EtAlNMe)₈ and (EtAlNBu^t)₄ are described.
