Oxidation of formaldehyde by cerium(IV) sulphate in aqueous sulphuric acid

Abstract

Kinetic evidence for the complex formation between cerium(IV) and formaldehyde is obtained and the rate of the reaction is found to be inversely proportional to [H2SO4].
