Derivatives of 2-amino-2-deoxy-L-talitol

Abstract

2-Amino-4,5-di-O-benzyl-1,3-O-benzylidine-2-deoxy-L-talitol (III) has been synthesised from D-galactose by way of 4,5-di-O-benzyl-1,3-O-benzylidene-L-galactitol, and the phenyloxazoline (IV) derived from 2-amino-1,4,5-tri-O-benzyl-2-deoxy-L-talitol has been synthesised from D-glucose by way of the anomers of methyl 2,3,6-tri-O-benzyl-D-glucofuranoside, for use as intermediates in a proposed stereospecific synthesis of sphingosine.
