Constituents of high-boiling petroleum distillates. Part XIII. Carbazole derivatives in a Kuwait mineral oil

Abstract

1,2,7,8- and 1,3,6,8-Tetramethylcarbazole have been isolated from a fraction of a Kuwait mineral oil and identified by comparison with synthetic specimens obtained by photocyclisation of tetramethyldiphenylamines. A pentamethylcarbazole was also isolated, and was not identical with synthetic 1,2,3,5,7-pentamethylcarbazole.
