Monofluoroisoquinolines. Part II

Abstract

One of the objectives of the work of which this forms a part is to examine the biological activity of some selected fluoroisoquinoline derivatives in the hope of finding a modification or enhancement of activity as compared with the non-fluorinated analogue. 1-(3,4-Dimethoxybenzyl)-6-fluoro-7-methoxyisoquinoline (3; R [double bond, length half m-dash] F) was pharmacologically very similar to papaverine and about one-fifth as active. Seven other fluorinated 1-benzylisoquinolines have been prepared and their base-strengths and infrared and ultraviolet spectra determined.
