Anodic oxidation. Part V. Some reactions with cyclohexa-1,3-diene and cyclohexene

Abstract

Electrolysis of methanolic sodium methoxide containing cyclohexa-1,3-diene gave 3,4- and 3,6-dimethoxycyclohexene; cyclohexene gave dimethoxymethylcyclopentane and 3-hydroxycyclohexene. Electrolysis of acetic acid containing sodium acetate and cyclohexa-1,3-diene gave 3,4- and 3,6-diacetoxycyclohexene and lesser amounts of 3-diacetoxymethylcyclopentene, 3-acetoxycyclohexene and 3-acetoxy-4(and 6)-methylcyclohexenes; cyclohexene gave diacetoxymethylcyclopentane and 3-acetoxycyclohexene.
