Electron spin resonance of aliphatic nitroxides. Part II. The cyclic radicals from pyrrolidine, piperidine, morpholine, and hexamethyleneimine

Abstract

Nitroxide free radicals have been produced by oxidation of pyrrolidine, piperidine, morpholine, and hexamethyleneimine. In six-membered rings, conformational changes are sufficiently slow to be studied by electron spin resonance. Activation energies for ring-inversion have been determined from the dependence of the e.s.r. spectra on temperature.
