The synthesis and characterisation of some organosilicon, organogermanium, and organotin arsines

Abstract

The organometallic arsines Me3SiAsMe2, Me2Si(AsMe2)2, MeSi(AsMe2)3, Me3GeAsMe2, and Me3SnAsMe2 have been synthesised by various methods and their infrared and 1H nuclear magnetic resonance spectra are reported and discussed. The different action of carbon disulphide upon Me3SiAsMe2, Me3GeAsMe2, and Me3SnAsMe2 is discussed. The tin–arsenic bond is stable to attack by water.
