The electronic properties and stereochemistry of the copper(II) ion. Part II. The monoamine adducts of bisethylenediaminecopper(II) complexes

Abstract

The electronic, e.s.r., and infrared spectra, and magnetic moments of a series of bisethylenediaminecopper(II) monoammonia adducts are reported. From an examination of these properties and by comparing them with those of the corresponding bisethylenediaminecopper(II) complexes it is concluded that these complexes are five-co-ordinate and that the molecular symmetry probably approximates more closely to that of a square-based pyramidal rather than to a trigonal bipyramidal configuration.
