Chemistry of the metal carbonyls. Part XLIV. Reactions of pentacarbonylrhenate(I) and dicarbonyl(π-cyclopentadienyl)ferrate(II) with 3,3,3-trifluoropropyne and pentafluorophenylacetylene

Abstract

The anions [Re(CO)5] and [π-C5H5Fe(CO)2] react with 3,3,3-trifluoropropyne to give the trifluoropropenyl complexes cis-CF3·CH:CH[Re(CO)5] and cis-CF3·CH:CH[Fe(CO)2π-C5H5], respectively. The product of the reaction between pentafluorophenylacetylene and [Re(CO)5] is p-HC⋮C·C6F4Re(CO)5, but under similar conditions [π-C5H5Fe(CO)2] affords cis-p-HC6F4·CH:CH[Fe(CO)2π-C5H5]. The n.m.r., i.r., and mass spectra of the new compounds are discussed.
