Diffusion in a sphere with fast irreversible reaction in bounded systems

Abstract

A closed solution is given for the problem of a reaction between a solid sphere and a fluid, when a solid product is formed concentrically over the sphere. The mathematical expression for the concentration of the reactant A in the bulk of fluid is derived as a function of time for this system when pore-diffusion of A governs the overall reaction rate.
