Quantitative determination of trace amounts of some dialkyl phthalates by gas-liquid chromatography

Abstract

Dialkyl phthalates at concentrations of 1 to 10 p.p.m. in aqueous solution have been separated and determined by gas-liquid chromatography after extraction into hexane. The column comprised Chromosorb G coated first with 1 per cent. polyvinylpyrrolidone and then with 1 per cent. Carbowax 20M, and the effluent concentrations were monitored with an electron-capture detector.
